Oops, I created three random host names, and asked for an IP,
gethostbyname(), throwing out anything where I got no answer,
new test:

jfmjhfmh.ac = 216.117.170.115
jfmjhfmh.io = 216.117.170.115
jfmjhfmh.sh = 216.117.170.115
jfmjhfmh.tm = 216.117.170.115

Did you check the TLD itself ? A wildcard won't work at
nodes with any record, TTBOMK (where you know that my "B"
is severly limited ;-)

Nothing directly I'm aware of - in the sitefinder case it
was considered as violating some general principles, better
check the original IAB + ICANN statements. Robustness,
astonishment factor, the works.
