The thing is, Outlook/Exchange combo sends "Your message was deleted 
without being read" notifications even if the message HAS been read 
during different scenarios. So, the listing can be erroneous nevertheless.

Two possible scenarios in this case include a laptop user (see 
http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=1418) and  a user that reads 
the message in preview plane (see 
http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=1415). Actually, the latter 
would be quite probable since many outlook users don't actually open the 
message but read it in the preview pane.
