It might be related to this:

    $ whois -h whois.geektools.com 218.234.58.179

    NOTICE:
    KRNIC is currently blocking access to their whois
    service via GeekTools.  Please query their whois
    server directly at whois.nic.or.kr.

which is rather unfriendly of them.
